Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution Federal Research Center "Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences" (MHI) is one of the world's leading oceanographic centers. It includes 15 research departments. The main areas of scientific research of the Institute: - fundamental research of processes that determine the variability of hydrophysical, hydrochemical, hydrooptical, ice fields of the seas and oceans and the interaction of the atmosphere and the ocean in a wide range of spatio-temporal scales; - development of methods and means of operational oceanography, improvement of operational models of ecosystems and ocean circulation of the World Ocean and seas washing the shores of the Russian Federation; - creation of new measuring hydrophysical equipment, development of an industrial instrument-making base for conducting research and providing organizations and departments of the Russian Federation with marine measuring instruments; - comprehensive interdisciplinary studies of the main processes of formation and evolution of ecosystems of the Black, Azov and other seas of the Russian Federation, as well as the land-sea interface zone using new equipment created at MHI.
